Eachine E180 Direct Drive RC Helicopter Review – The Good & Bad.
The Eachine E180, is Eachine’s first direct drive collective pitch helicopter. It’s a 200 size class machine that competes directly with the OMPHobby M2.
A direct drive brushless main motor is a more expensive way to run the main rotor, but it has many advantages… Efficient, quiet, powerful, operates nice & cool (longer motor & bearing life), is way more robust and reduces the parts count. It also looks great!
During my in depth review of the E180 from unboxing to test flying, I’m pointing out all the features the E180 has to offer, what it gets right & wrong, along with my primary setup numbers for my flights modes.
The E180 has a good design but it’s not perfect. Mine also had a couple important factory assembly issues. They were easily rectified, and have been reported back to Eachine. Banggood has reassured me this was a rare case due to it being a “test review” unit that was not inspected by them before direct shipping from the factory. Regardless, any pre-built RC helicopter no matter what brand or model should be checked over. You will almost always find something not assembled with the care we as collective pitch RC helicopter hobbyists’ would take the time to do.
The E180 comes in two formats, BNF & RTF. I got the RTF version which comes with Eachine’s E6, six channel entry level computerized radio which uses Futaba’s S-FHSS protocol. The BNF version will therefore bind out of the box to any 6 channel or more computerized S-FHSS protocol radio.
The E180’s flight controller / FBL system also accepts an external DSM2/X satellite RX for Spektrum users as well as an S-Bus input port. Lots of receiver options in other words.

NEXT RC Helicopter SIM brief Review
This is the new Heli simulator called CGM RC Heli Simulator, made in Germany and suitable for Win, Mac and Linux. It´s small in size, only for helicopters but with very nice graphs and physics, also with many new models which I think they feel very much alike. (I´ve tried most of those Aligns only). You must buy a dongle from Amazon or other places and use you own Tx. I also have Phoenix, RF 6.5 and Aerofly. This Sim I think that has the best physics along with Phoenix. Aerofly has better graphics but helis are slugish and is difficult to modify them (you can), and RF 6.5 is very good for airplanes but helis are easier than real life and than other sims. Upgrades are downloaded fast and free with improvements, new helis and scenarios. Apple has a free Next SIM lite which has 1 heli and 1 scenario, can´t autorotate, you should try it for free. 🙂

Eachine E160 Review – Impressive Brushless Tail Hold & Performance
Detailed Eachine E160 review including test flight with three different setups (tame, sport, 3D). The E160 is a great flying little collective pitch RC helicopter to suit all flying styles. It’s powerful enough for heart pounding 3D, or can be tamed right down for nice gentle scale type flying. Flybarless stabilization performance is impressive with a fluid and precise feel.
If you are torn between the XK K130 vs the Eachine E160, the E160 is not much more money, however, it’s a much better value as it improves on the shortcomings of the K130.
The single biggest performance improvement is in tail hold & authority thanks to a proper direct drive brushless tail rotor motor. It’s all but impossible to get the tail to blow out on the Eachine E160, even when trying. Brushless tail motors also last much longer than brushed coreless tail motors.
Other E160 improvements include a stronger and better cooled main brushless motor, longer flight times with slightly larger capacity LiPo & better power efficiency, metal geared swashplate servos & stronger landing struts. Some will find the E160’s canopy graphics easier to see which is always a welcome feature on any small micro collective pitch RC helicopter.
Out of the box, the Eachine E160 3D RC Helicopter is Futaba S-FHSS protocol ready, but provides receiver compatibility with Spektrum DSM, S-Bus, and PPM.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, capable little collective pitch RC helicopter to fly & practice with in your yard, the E160 should definitely be on your short list of micro 3D collective pitch RC helicopters to check out.
