The heli looks very, very good for getting hit by a wind turbine blade and falling down more than 100 meters!!! No electronics damaged!!! Flying again soon.
The onboard microphone had a loose contact, no motor sound in this video.

Hacker A20-6XL motor without cooling fan (broken at a crash), 15 tooth pinion
Thunder Power 11,1V 3s 20C 2600mAh LiPo battery (weighs only 188 g)
Turnigy 3A Low RF Noise external BEC (UBEC), 6V voltage output
6,3V 2200?F buffer capacitor for the BEC, but not necessary
3x EMAX ES08A analog swash plate servos from BEVRC, 10.5mm servo arm length (shorter servo arm= better resolution!!!)
1x Hitec HS-65 HB analog tail servo, 7.5mm servo arm length

I’m using channel 9 (1280 MHz)
WDR700 (= KPC-DNR700PHB) PAL camera (Sony Super HADII CCD), factory (= default) settings, I’ve tried other settings but default is the best in my opinion

Ferrite ring (= toroid), 32V 100µF and 16V 1000µF Capacitors against interference (= LC- filter), the BLC-40 has much more noise than the Kontronik Jazz 40-6-18. I could not see any lines with the Jazz 40!!! But the soft start of the Jazz is not good for autorotations…..

This is the best possible quality in my opinion (with this camera, transmitter setup)

Average flight time: 7 min.
Range: approx. 800m with this setup

Heli, camera approx. 850 Euro

Dunken Bossion mit seinem Gaui X7 zeigt uns hier mal einen Ein-Hand Flug. Kann er mit Mode 1 (Pitch rechts) machen. Leider bei der Landung etwas überreagiert aber ansonsten wie immer eine Hammer Flugdarbietung. Rotor Live 2015 in Iffezheim Germany.

NOTE un stablised version with subtitles. Model helicopter crash cought live via onboard video – our electric powered ‘flying camera’ suffered a total failure in flight and fell out of the sky. I was still trying out different camera mounting ideas and in this case, had mounted it facing backwards. The camera cannot be attached solidly to the helicopter as the vibration causes total image blur, so we’re having to try out diferent ways of mounting it alas in this case, the camera ‘resonated’ with the chopper, causing the image distortion that made everything, including the wind turbines, look as if they were made of wobbly rubber – so you’ll have to bear with. This is the raw unedited video taken from the camera, so its all there, including the moment I found the crashed chopper. I was rather shook up by the crash, hence the even more terrible camera work at the end – not least because I didn’t think the camera would have actually survived so didn’t really think it would still be videoing. The helicopter was under perfect control up until the point of sudden total failure. The little ‘Fly DV’ camera did survive – a remerkable achievement. At 30 grammes, the camera weighs less then the optional training kit that is sometimes sold with this helicopter. I’ve since found that the battery connector had a bad pin and one had melted due to poor workmanship, the other pin in the connector was fine.

RC Turbine MH-53 crash at Scale Helicopter Masters 2012
Second year at Helicopter Scale Masters. The MH-53 was rebuilt after last years crash and looked even better. Unfortunately the aircraft went out of control and crashed after nearly killing the pilot and myself after a successful test flight.
Please, if you fly helicopters, KEEP YOUR DISTANCE and always have a escape plan. This was the freakiest event I have witnessed in my 14 years of flying helicopters. The pilot saved our lives as with an aircraft this large we would have never survived if it hit us.

DJI Phantom 2 Death Drop Crash
The DJI Phantom 2 has been suffering from severe power failures.

While capturing footage for our upcoming article on DJI Phantom quadcopters our very own DJI Phantom 2 fell victim to a power failure and subsequent crash.
Our P2 was about 30 days old and had about 27 flights logged. As you can see in the video we were taking off and gaining altitude when the failure hit. We had a full battery and just completed a flight check on the ground and in the air for the first 30 seconds. (not in this clip)
We are currently in contact with DJI regarding this matter and will post updates to our inquiry as we learn more.
