RC heli pulls 1.8 ton Ferrari – insane power demonstration record!
This month we’re doing the most insane power demonstration to date: Pulling a 1.8 ton Ferrari F430 Spider with a single R/C heli! Very likely this is the highest load ever moved with a model helicopter – kudos to all components that survived this ultra-extreme torture without any problems! And BTW, we had two nice police guys on site who made sure that everything goes according to plan and is safe for the people around. They also helped to clear the street from onlookers; thanks for that. And finally, they thoroughly enjoyed the show – just like everyone else!

Trex 700E “The Beast” – Tim Jones insane power

Tim Jones has built a Trex 700 electric conversion based around a prototype Castle Creations motor. The initial word was that the motor was putting out around 7 horsepowers.
How ever the last thing I heard about this insane motor (supposedly after some data logging was performed) it was putting out about 10 horsepowers(!). That’s over 7000 watts of power output in a machine that weighs just over 5 kilos! Compare that to the stock nitro engine which produces about 3.4 hp (total fly weight here is somewhat lower though).
As an interesting side note (although a somewhat inappropriate comparison) one of the most powerful full scale helis in the world, the American millitary attack helicopter AH-64D Apache Longbow (i.e. the most powerful version) has a power to weight ratio of 0.773 horsepowers per kilo. Even in the wold of rc 3D helis that’s powerful. That’s how ever without any weapons, fuel or pilot. In the same way the full scale Bell222 (the Airwolf helicopter) has a ratio of 0.598 hp per kilo. Loaded and ready for combat the Apache has a power to weight ratio of 0.499 hp per kilo. Still very powerful.
How ever, assuming this Trex700E conversion heli weighs about the same as other electric conversions “The Beast” should be approaching 2 whole horsepowers per kilo! And that’s with the heavy batteries installed.
A Trex 700 is about the length of a 3 seated sofa or couch. It’s very big and normally moves like “a hog” compared to smaller sizes but Tim’s conversion is like a finch. It’s capable of moving around more like a 50 sized heli even though it’s a 90 size.
Suffice to say… power to weight ratio on this thing is sick. By far the most powerful rc heli I’ve ever seen.
Be sure to view in HD and crank up the volume. The blade farts on this thing nicknamed “The Beast” are pure music.

World’s 2nd Best RC Helicopter Onboard Video! No FPV! Insane 3D Camera Almost Crash Auto Car Heli
“juz70” has shown me a better non-FPV vid. (FPV= First Person View = Flying with video goggles, another class of winging!) I think a RC helicopter onboard video consists of: 1) Picture Quality (Vibrations, …) 2) Editing (Cutting, music,…) 3) Pilot skills (Alan Szabo,….) 4) Location (Grand Canyon, ….) 5) Creativity (Chasing cars, opening fire rockets…) 6) Thrill (High speed humble go through, almost crash….) I made up one’s mind to seek and program a flight sim that you could run in a browser window utilizing svg and javascript. Here is what I came up with so far (totally a beta prototype). It was even fun before I appended gravity, so i have appended buttons to turn on/off gravity! Warning it is not easygoing! Not extreamly down-to-earth either yet, but it is difficult and was definitely artful to code. Left stick is keys a,s,d & w, where an and s are rudder, s and w are throttle. Right stick is j,k,l,& i, where j and l are ailerons, i and k are elevator. Be at the ready to append throttle proper away when you turn gravity on! There is no ground so it just starts falling unless you push the w key about 8 times quickly. Also, it starts out nose in. You have to get utilized to nose-in right away. You might desire to spin around it around getting down out. If you misplace track of it you can always reload using the F5 key. Next I have to program an idle-up switch. Check it out dwell. Oh yea, it does not work in firefox, even though I can run it locally using firefox. It seems to run best in Google’s Chrome browser. download chrome! www.google.com It may not work on Internet Explorer without the SVG viewer activeX object from adobe. Tragic RC Helicopter Crash, Servo Failure Piroflip Onboard Camera Insane 3D Funny Accident Car Heli
Crash caused by a stripped gear of the rear swash plate servo at a Piroflip. No electronics impaired (only 2 servo gears and motor fan).
