Double Horse 9104 RC helicopter review, modifications, and comparison to Volitation 9053
The Ambigu Horse 9104 RC helicopter fuselage is only 550mm prolonged, and is not 710mm lengthy as mentioned on the box. It did not fly forward with out modification. Nonetheless, the modifications are effortless and this helicopter is faster and more entertaining and challenging to fly than the Volitation 9053.
Video clip Rating: four / five
hello, I could say what you like best: the 9053 or 9104? and why? thank you very much
@warmfreeze Yes, you are right, that also helps a lot!
remove the tail boom stabilizer and connecting rods…it will fly forward..its actually really heavy and adds quite a bit of weight to the ass-end
@hammydude12345 Actually it’s the other way around, the 9104 is a bigger version of the 9100 which came out months earlier and is more manouverable than the 9104 which I find to be very sluggish in comparison. I have 2 x 9104 and have been disappointed with their performance. One already has my swashplate mod in it and that works fine as it does on my 9100s, but I suspect the 9104 is just underpowered. For my mod look at rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1358424&page=62, post #929
@1iNova I think you are right, but that is a little deceptive on their part. In the past, Double Horse didn’t include rotor lengths and gave accurate helicopter fuselage length (an example is the Volitation 9053 fuselage is actually 26 inches).
Ahem. The Double Horse 9104 on my shelf is almost exactly 28 inches from most forward rotor extension to the rear-most extension of the tail rotor. The measurement is of the minimum space it takes when powered. 28 inches = 0.7112 meters. The measurement is not of just the body.
@hammydude12345 thabks alot do i really need to do the hard mods and does the controller have a spring or no spring
@callofdutyfreak39 I think it is, I’ve had a lot of fun with this heli.
@hammydude12345 with the modifications is it a good heli cause i am planning to get this
@stehlajz
Helicopters will naturally pull the left. I have 5 helicopters and they all pull to the left. It has something to do with the ground effect.
@hammydude12345 hi, i just got my heli but there is one problem. Without any weight the heli skidding to the left side, not right and I dont know why. I try 10g weight but no change, is possible that the wires from batt on the left side can do this?
@Tootall38 I haven’t seen the German guys video. If your 9104 flies forward fast enough, then you won’t need these modifications. I don’t have a 9100 but my understanding is that it is a smaller version of the 9104 helicopter.
@stehlajz No I didn’t replace the swash plate. I adjusted the clevis so that the swash plate was tilted a little forward. This helps the helicopter fly in a forward direction.
nice review. however, the german guy that does the crash videos seemed to have no problem flying forward. You stated that it would only fly forward. Is that right? Also, how does this compare to the 9100? Size, quality, flying, etc… Thanks
@hammydude12345 thanks for reply, so please correct me, you make this modifications : 4g weight at left landing gear, 14g weight in bottom of plastic case, longer stick between swash plate and servo and you change the swash plate? Which one you used? Sorry for this questions, but you speak little fast for me 🙂
@stehlajz I paid $72 including shipping from ebay, but I don’t know if they would ship it to the Czech Republic. I’ve seen many places charge more than $100 for the 9104. I flew this helicopter many, many times before I figured out how to modify it. I don’t know if it all 9104 helicopters fly slowly, but in the videos on youtube they all seem very to fly very slow. Except I posted a video of this helicopter with modifications and it can now fly quite fast. Good luck!
@hjfcoco I just checked ebay for “dean connector” and there was 120 to choose from. I tried a 7.4v 2200mAh battery but it seemed to weigh too much. Some lipo batteries do come with the same connectors supplied with the 9104 so you might be able to find them. Otherwise, Dean(s) connectors are very common.
Hallo, I saw this heli in our shop and I try to found something about it. I think your video is great, but my english is not so good, so please I have some questions. They want about 100$ for this heli, is it good price or is better to buy it from another country (Im from Czech Republic). I have some RC heli, my last was Lie Bro 3Ch, but it was bad for outdoor flying. Also I see you modified the heli before first fly, is this on all Shuang Ma or just one bad pcs.? Thanks
thanks for the reply, yes i saw the video and it does fly very good, ill be more than happy if mine ends up flying like that after the mods. i did search on ebay for deans connectors but had no luck, what do you type in the search box to look them up? also do you recommend 2- 1700 mah or 1- 2200 mah battery? if i went with one 2200mah will i still need the connectors?
thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions.
@hjfcoco Decent lipo batteries will about double the flight time and give it more power. I recently put up a video of the 9104 flying and you can see it performs well. I use Deans connectors you can search for them on Ebay.
hello hammy dude, i have some questions about your battery mod for the dh9104, the two batterys you use now is it to extend flight time? if so how much longer? and will it give it more power? because my 9104 seems to be extremly under powered. also where can i find the connectors to put 2 of those batterys on mine aswell?
thank you.
what helicopter is better to buy.. 9053 or 9104
