GIANT but SUPER LIGHT INDOOR FLIGHT 1:4 SCALE RC F4U CORSAIR (FOLDING WINGS / TWIST & TURN RETRACTS)
Jürgen Schönle, a member of the DMFV Indoor Team performing at the Leipzig Modell-Hobby-Spiel Trade Fair, amazes the crowd at Modell-Hobby-Speil Trade Fair with an indoor flight of his 1:4 scale F4U Corsair. This model is built from extremely light depron foam and is powered by a motor with a gearbox which powers a balsa prop. The battery powering the model is a 3S2200 pack ! Wingspan of this model is 3.1 metres and total weight is 4KG. Jurgen is not only a master builder but an ace pilot and it was a pleasure to film this magnificent model in action.
IMPORTANT: Contrary to wide belief these models are not filled with helium. They are built with extremely light materials so the result is a model aircraft that has a very light wing loading that enables them to fly in tight spaces such as the exhibition hall at this event.

This is the most popular rc helicopter because it’s so easy to fly and extremely tough. Spare parts are cheap and easy to find. The Syma S107 has light weight blades that will swing so if they hit you, they hurt a lot less than rigid blades. This also helps prevent the blades from getting damaged, since they will swing on a hinge. Flying couldn’t be easier. Once the helicopter is hovering it will stay within a 5 foot radius and trim can be applied to keep the nose straight. The tail has a upward facing motor that will push it up or down, causing the rc helicopter to fly forward and reverse.
Any wind from a fan or air conditioning will cause this little helicopter to drift so it’s best to be flown in still air. It works on infrared so it’s best to be flown indoors as the signal will be weak outside.

This is one of several scale looking rc helicopters that Syma did a great job on. Their other models are the Apache, Coast Guard Airwolf, Black Hawk and Chinook. They all fly pretty much the same, except for the Airwolf and Cobra fly a little faster than the others. All the controls and trim work the same way and you do have a switch on the transmitter that will allow you to fly more than one helicopter at a time.

These some of the easiest and most durable rc helicopters out there and replacement parts are easy to find and cheap. There are a few things to keep in mind to insure you helicopter doesn’t break.
First off is to keep the blades swinging free. If you tilt you helicopter and the blades don’t move then you need to loosen the screw. Second, you never want to apply power when the blades can’t move, so if you crash or if you helicopter tips over, immediately lower the throttle all the way down so the tiny plastic gears inside don’t strip because when those go, the helicopter is pretty much done for. Lastly, let your battery cool down before charging it up again.
If your blades get chipped and dinged, I found that sanding them down and adding a little tape will help with sharp edges.
The included charger needs to be plugged into a USB port and I like to use a USB wall charger so I can charge more than one at a time or if you’re someone who has a lot of electronics, extra usb ports are always welcome.
