Scale RC Helicopter Build – Roban EC130 800 Maiden Flight.
In today’s scale RC helicopter build of the Roban EC130 800 size heli, we’re getting the tested mechanics installed and getting the EC130 airborne.
I’ll be covering important scale RC heli build items such as battery placement, fitting the mechanics, fenestron blade clearance, RX current draw, center of gravity and how not to fry your lighting system.
We’ll then get this big beastie up in the air for the first time with the fuselage fitted, further checking operation, vibration and post flight log data.
By the way, motor to main shaft reduction ratio of the Roban HSM 800 mechanics is 13.8:1. I only mention this because I had a hell of a time finding it, and it’s of course needed for correct head speed calculation in your governor setup.

An awesome highlight from Weston Park International Model Show. These radio controlled jet turbine powered helicopters sounded like the real thing as they whizzed around the runway. One had a classic smoke system and the fantastic EL-smoke DUO system on its skids enabling it to leave 3 smoke trails.
The helicopters are created from Vario Lama SA 315 B kits. They are 1:5.6 scale. The rotor is 2.5 m and overall weight is approximately 19KG. Piloted skillfully by Yann Moindrot and his wife.

The WL Toys V931 is a 6 channel collective pitch 3D capable scale type helicopter. It is powered by a brushless 11000kv main motor and a brushed tail motor. It is equipped with a triple blade billet rotor head which produces awesome lift and power enabling 3D flight. This model of helicopter is used from military to fire fighting and anything in between. This is the same helicopter that brings extreme snow sports to the top of the highest mountains. This model of helicopter also holds the highest take off and landing for any helicopter.
The new WL Toys V931 AS350 is an awesome mini version of the full size. A great tribute to such an awesome record achieving helicopter. The package comes with a 2.4ghz transmitter, two 500mah 3.7v lithium batteries and charger, extra blades, and main gear setting up the pilot for hours upon hours of joyful flight entertainment, it doubles as a great static model when not in use as well!
