Which helicoper should you buy, 6 Channel, Fixed Pitch or Co-axial

Are you trying to figure out which style of RC helicopter to get? This video covers a few of the main types of “real” RC helicopters. There are some toys out there that say they are RC helicopters but they are more of a toy. They won’t teach you many skills that will help you eventually fly advanced RC helicopters like the Trex 450 500 600 or other Nitro helicopters. The controls on all of these helicopters are the same, but the way each helicopter responds is very different. A helicopter like the 6 channel CCPM one in this video can be bought at www.mikeysrc.com all ready to fly for only 4.99. www.mikeysrc.com If you want really nice scale helicopter fuselages please visit skyhunterhobby.com

i was wondering if you had heard of the 4ch venom night ranger 2 helicopter and if so is it a good helicopter and very good vid by the way. Thanks!!

  • MikeysRC:

@Pactanth It just tells you how sophisticated the heli is. And it has to do with the number of servos and motors that each type of heli requires.

  • Pactanth:

why is the number of channels important?

  • MikeysRC:

collective / variable are the same thing. It means the pitch changes of the blades.

  • xToXiicxT3RRoRx:

@MikeysRC oh then whats variable pitch

  • MikeysRC:

@xToXiicxT3RRoRx with a fixed pitch the only way you go up and down is by increasing or decreasing the speed of the main blades. On a collective both the RPM’s and the angel of attack of the blades changes. It’s gives you WAY more control.

  • xToXiicxT3RRoRx:

whats the difference between variable pitch and collective pitch

    Really good and explicative video.

I have years of fixed wing (planes) experience but never touched RC helis.. i ordered a Blade 120sr (fixed pitch single rotor) and im practicing a bit in FMS simulator (non gyros helis). Should i be fine with the 120sr for starters?

  • BootiDaddy:

One thing I don’t understand about 6ch r/c helicopters is how the angle is actually changed on the main rotor blades? Is it a switch on the controller?

  • Nexgcs:

    Pretty good vid

  • MikeysRC:

    @cobravenomX1 Throttle hold?
