NightFlyyer’s RC Helicopter Practice Program, ClearView sim version.
I have been travelling and informing helicopters for 30 years. I was fortunate to have an instructor, John Simone Jr. He was the National Helicopter Champion at the time. This is a like-minded practice session for those of you who would like to indoctrinate 4 channel helis. My steps are sword-shaped. Use little inputs, save nose into the wind. Don’t go along behind or around you, and don’t get your friends look on you when seeing. They assume way more, being unmindful that just poising a 4 channel helicopter is most indocile and why there are so few heli pilots. Don’t let them “egg you on”, or you will miss it. Bigger Gas or Electric helicopters are better to learn on because they are heavier and act smoother and less unsteady than with unimportant helis, especially if it is stormy. I agnise that this may not be “your” technique and there may be many comments. But this technique works for me and my students, so I stick to it. I will channelize my 9 heli flying tips if you PM me, but satisfy, I am waaaay behind, so be patient. The said helicopters are all from Nitroplanes. I will be engendering a chunky review and flight on each one within the week. The link for the price and availability is this. www.dpbolvw.net The simulator is a Clearview and is at large to download and take. www.rcflightsim.com I use my Esky Transmitter from the FMS sim for this. It is shut away in 3d, but is close-grained for me. .95 Good luck with your flying, be fail-safe and have fun. Dave

Great Vid tute Dave, I Love Flying in ClearView and That is my Favourite Field too
thanks nightflyyer! I learned on first try by following youre steps!
5. Left and right slides, forward and back slides (optionally add stationary slow pirouettes here in both directions)
6. Upright figure 8 circuits
7. Inverted tail in hover
8. Inverted nose in hover
9. Inverted left and right side in hover
10. Backwards upright figure 8’s
11. Forward inverted figure 8’s
12. Backward inverted figure 8’s
(Always have a bailout plan, know which way to add collective upright or inverted)
Thanks for taking the time to make helpful videos…
I’d never teach a student loops and rolls until they are comfortable with hovering in all orientations. Then teach autos because there is no point in progressing into forward flight if you can’t land successfully when you engine fails. Each lesson should be a building block to the next lesson.
1. Tail in hover
2. Nose in hover
3. Left and right side in hover.
4. Stationary Autorotations, start low and progressively build altitude.
Hey!
It seems like you start out flying in 3D mode early? Should i start training in idle-up from the start? I’ve got a Belt CP v2
@SpecMaster1 the left and right…and the right stick up and down controls cyclic making the heli fly foward and backward…and left and right on the right stick makes it slide sideways left and right, i havnt flown my heli in a while but they are extremely fun once you learn it but also really challenging and can be expensive, i would suggest starting with a small 4 channel coaxial, like the blade cx2 or 3 then work your way up and using a simulator if possible
@SpecMaster1 sorry this is so late but you are almost spot on…you prolly know it all by now though lol, but the left stick is correct…up and down controls throttle which makes it go up and down and fly faster or slower…and if its a 6 channel 3d heli it also controls the pitch of the main rotor blades…more pitch aka (twisting of the blades) creates more lift and less pitch eguals less lift or more and less wind from the rotors…and left stick left and right points the nose of the heli to
I just recently bought CV and started practicing. I’m able to to hover for now (after couple of days). Should I complete the whole practice routine with CV or buy a heli and practice simultaneously on it?
Thanks
rhhobby
how do i get the videos i have recorded on clear view on to you tube
how do i get the videos iv recorded on clear view on to you tube
how do i get da vids iv recorded on clearview on to youtube
I like the way you explain minor details. Keep it up… Thanks.
Thank You Sir. You really rock, giving all the minor details.
What camera view do you use in clearview?
Dude your vids on rc heli’s are the best on youtube. I’ve watched a ton of them and never get bored half way through unlike most other peoples vids…keep up the good work and you’re helping me learn a lot!
@4onlineotter Thank you soooo much for the lead. It is much apreciated.
@wkialyleiam I know this was months ago and you may have found your answer since, but I saw what you are wanting to know in how to videos by sokal11, search sokal11 Basic Flight Theory and sokal11 Coordinated Turns. I would have posted the links, but it would not allow me.
Hey NightFlyer – do you have a video showing how one installs one of those ‘training kits’ onto helicopters? I have a new 4CH 2.4Ghz Esky Co-Comanche and bought the training kit which came with no instructions for assembly or use with that aircraft..
All the best,
TstAllTruth.
I have a Dynam 6 ch USB transmitter with Clearview Sim and want to know what channel to set the upper left toggle switch to(5 ch Gyro)? same for the upper right knob on my transmitter(Gear/Pit). and finally the (mix) toggle switch? I have my settings set up now as Throttle (reverse) Z axis, Rudder Z rotation, Alieron X axis, Elevator Y axis, Idle up Y rotation, and theottle hold X rotaion. not sure if they are correct because I cannot fly inverted? Please set me straight. Thanks alot.
that gives me some ideas to practice on my b400 😀
got the hover and sliding forth and back side to side nailed in 3 flights think some sliding 8’s are next then slow forward fig 8’s
the nose in should be fine coz ive been flying planes for years and been doing tuns of nose in on my msr 🙂
I got the clearview sim and it has helped me a lot already and it’s only been a couple of days. I crashed A LOT at first and nearly gave up but i am getting better. Thanks Mr. Herbert!
really nice Video,I need help? I just purchase a Heli form exheli and i try to put the cd that come with it do I can practice and it dosen’t work. How could i fix the problem.thank you
which sim would you say is better? im not to worried about the $ but i just want the best flight physics. i was thinking about getting the realflight g5 because of its online pilot vs. pilot and its in cockpit viewpoint plus the remote is a mock-up of the futaba 6ex. any advice?
Just wanna say 2 you Dave that i´m so thankful that you have inspired me to getting into this absolutely mega great hobby. Thx a million man and please keep the awesome work up with your supergreat videos. Marry xmas to you and all other r/c helipilots out there.
I recognize that field ! I have crashed there many times.
Thanks again, another great video. You are my inspiration…old engineer guy asking what can I do for fun and NOT get killed doing it. I gave up fast bikes a long time ago.
