Aeolus 50 3D CF rc heli – building the kit in 5 minutes – time lapse!

***I HATE THE NEW YOUTUBE LAYOUT*** Building the Aeolus 50 radio control helicopter in only five minutes, thanks to time lapse! This is about 4.5 hours of work. No electronics or engine to put in it yet. This has been the most fun to build out of any helicopter I’ve had (Raptors, Furies, Freyas, Trex’s etc). Power will be YS56, 2s cyclic servos and a GY520 gyro. Still trying to decide between Futaba 8FGH or Spektrum DX7-SE. Music is Da Funk by Daft Punk

@donphobos Well my followup is… my YS56 has been a pos and I’m pretty frustrated with the hobby once again. No problems with the Aeolous however, although I haven’t flown in a few months now.

  • donphobos:

Great clip! Would really appreciate to see some follow-up on it!

@chingersfreind Not needed but I lilke the extra flight time and it’s easier to see that I’m out of fuel in the main when the header starts dropping. That 56 drinks up some fuel quick. The bundle blades – are you talking about the ones with the gold stripe? If so, they actually fly nice but the paint comes right off the first time you spray alcohol on them to clean off the oil!

  • chingersfreind:

@zz3astro Yeah I don’t think you really need a header with that engine….I’ll be using a os hyper so a header tank I think will be a must……You know the only thing I didn’t like about the bundle package was that the main blades were rotor techs but by a company named tiayua or something like that…..definitely not good blades….went out today and got some align 600d’s carbons…Funny thing is how gullible I can be thinking the blades were going to be century rotor techs!!!

  • zz3astro:

@chingersfreind Definitely a good deal for the money. I’m not crazy about the included bolts (4 mm threads but a 3mm head) but otherwise excellent deal. I used a header tank, but my YS56 has been a pos and I haven’t flown it since June. I have the engine back from YS now, just no time to install it and try it out.

  • Jake:

Hey that’s cool, I will build mine soon when I have all the parts, ordering parts next week.

  • chingersfreind:

@zz3astro I just ordered one from New England Heli….it’s the aeolis 50 cf model with Rotor Tech 610mm blades and a aeolis 50 fusano canopy for $299.00 with free shipping….I already have a muffler….can’t beat that deal!!!!!!! Great build video by the way….can’t wait to start my build…will you be using a fuel magnet or a header tank?

couldn’t u have bought it all assembled?

  • nickcasemore:

@zz3astro ok thanks man im looking about at low costing nitro heli’s”

  • zz3astro:

@nickcasemore Definitely not a clone. The frames are quite different with a lot of improvements. The head and tail are similar and many parts fit, but the frame layout is awesome on this heli.

  • nickcasemore:

is this a trex 600 clone?

  • zz3astro:

@neverblameme I ordered mine direct from AHF-USA (dot COM). It’s $399 with blades, muffler and upgrade paddles/dampeners/tail blades. You can also get it from New England Heli but I don’t think it comes with the extras. New England Heli carries all of the spare parts. If you want the carbon version, get the CF. They also have a new one out called the SV that is more expensive.

  • neverblameme:

where did u buy this kit? its cheaper then the Trex 600n but i cant find any site selling this heli. can u help?

  • zz3astro:

@arsitama Yep, but I can’t quite beat Chuck Norris at it!

  • arsitama:

That’s faster than Superman can do.

  • zz3astro:

@HelisZoneSanBern Thanks… unfortunately my YS56 engine has been misbehaving and has to go back to YS to be worked on. Too hot to fly right now in Florida anyway I guess.

  • zz3astro:

@7249xxl Thanks.. Total build time was about 4 to 5 hours. For the time lapse I just used a USB webcam on my laptop and recorded videos about 1 hr long each. I then used the ‘speed up double’ effect in windows movie maker. You can only apply the effect 2 or 3 times and then you have to ‘produce’ the movie file. Then if you need to speed it up more (as I did) then you import the newly created movie and apply the same effect again as needed as some kind of bug in the program causes a problem
