ANCL Helicopter Autopilot Demonstration
This video shows the results of an autpilot test conducted on November 1, 2012 at Bergen RC in Cassopolis, MI. The autopilot was developed as a research project by the Applied Nonlinear Controls Lab at the University of Alberta, Canada.
I built an autopilot for a low-cost toy helicopter.
Vertical rotor power was autonomously controlled via a laptop computer to achieve an arbitrary user-set altitude. The rotation and forward/back motion of the helicopter was not automated and still had to have a human pilot, hence the term “partial autopilot.”
