Large gas-powered RC model helicopter used as a camera platform
This large 26cc gas engine-driven RC helicopter is utilised as a digital camera system for getting nevertheless and video clip pictures of occasions this sort of as the motorcycle racing that was happening at the racetrack subsequent to our flying subject. You would not locate this at Hobby King. It has an onboard alternator (a brushless motor actually) which keeps the batteries billed. In reality, the batteries have not essential charging for about six months, thanks to this method. It is extremely secure and he will get above 20 minutes flying out of a tank of gasoline. Not low cost even though — about NZ000 (USK). But, it is an alternative to individuals quadcopters and tricopters folks are utilizing.
Video Score: 4 / 5
I know how cumbersone the XH series of cameras is.
It’s quite a? feat.
I dont have that video at hand but here is a link to one i did using that model for a music video in Auckland, the camera used was a canon xh-a1 google it? and see how big it is it will give you a better apreciation for what this heli will carry. search for vigor3d on youtube then find ponsanby clock tower.
Do you have any on-board video from this? heli?
There’s the Sbach? again! LOL!
Yes please!!!?
It’s actually very easy. Perhaps I should do a DIY project??
Hey Bruce, How can someone turn a brushless motor into a generator? I would love? to know as it is something I’ve wanted to do for some time now.
Cheers.
at 2:10 it looks like they are about to get their heads chopped off?
Pretty sure the Japanese use a large scale RC? chopper for aerial spraying. Quiet an impressive bit of kit.
That chopper flies steadier than any rc-chopper i’ve ever seen. You see a lot of? camera choppers going to electric to avoid the vibration. How does he shield the camera from vibration?
Thats a massive camera by the way. Probably worth 12K on its own with the lens.
Cool bit of? tech there!
Love to see that too?
So this heli is worth 12grand ,wow. I would be afraid to fly it with? all those planes flying around. One question ?If let`s say someone flies into that helicopter . does the plane flying around that hit it have to pay for it or does the flying insurance cover that sort of thing?thanks.
Woohoo! you posted it! I saw it a few videos back just? sitting in the grass.
that is one big rc chopper. kudos to? he who built it.. and best wishes if it ever crashes…
im thinking of making my 26cc gasser for filming nature and stuff … thanks? for the vid
Bruce, Where is the video from the heli’s camera? I was hoping to see some aerial footage of the motorcycle track, or? of the flying field to get a sense of what $12K buys.
Because when this is your job, to take aerial footage for companies, you want the best equipment you can get to achieve the best results. A good final product for you customer? means more work in the end.
He says in the beginning that its used as a power generator. It allows for longer flights, and its a bit if insurance as well. When your flying $12 grand worth of equiplment around, you don’t want? to lose it over a 40 dollar battery going bad.

Very interesting evolution? from an RC heli. I wouldn’t mind some footage from it, but sport photography is just another thing.
wow? ! thats very cool
Nothing? professional is ever cheap.
This is such a? nice helicopter but why would you spend that much :/.
